WASHINGTON, Sept 25, 2008 (AFP) - Private companies will play an increasingly important role in space travel in the next decade, said NASA administrator Michael Griffin as the agency marks its 50th anniversary.The 'technology of our time now permits companies to build with their own capabilities' systems for travelling into space, Griffin said.

SHANGHAI, Oct 10, 2007 (AFP) - Two Chinese men will stand trial for hijacking the Special Olympics brand for use in illegal advertising, state media reported Wednesday.

Claiming they had the authorisation of Special Olympics organisers, the men signed a contract in April with a communications company that would allow it to sell advertising space for the event, the China Daily said.

The Californian governor and the Houston Rockets basketball star were among the stars from the worlds of sport, politics and the arts at the opening ceremony at the Shanghai Stadium presided over by Chinese President Hu Jintao.
